Carmen grew up in South Taranaki and moved back here when her children were pre-schoolers. She holds a strong connection with the area and hopes that she can work to develop her relationships within the community. Carmen holds a Diploma in Kindergarten Teaching, a Post Grad Diploma in Early Intervention and a Bachelor of Education with a full teacher registration with the Ministry of Education. She has two sons and also three 'international' children who were exchange students from Switzerland, Belgium and France. She's also spent a lot of holidays in Samoa where she has friends who are considered family and have supported them after the tsunami. Carmen also enjoys reading, walking the dog and doing crafts.
