Mimmi has been with us for around 7 months now. From first day we immediately felt that she was part of the family. Mimmi takes care of my daughter Noor who is a 5 years old and Youssef who is three years old.
I almost always felt guilty leaving my children with anyone. This guilt has vanished with Mimmi. She genuinely loves Noor and Youssef. When I am out of the house and I come back I find them playing in the backyard or in her lounge giggling and having a lot of fun, which is a big relief. The children love her and they run to her whenever she comes back from a trip or just an outing with a friend. They really take her for an older sister. I guess the embedded translation of “au pair” in my children’s mind is “big sister”. They want to be with her all the time that I have to guard the door to her room so that they don’t slip going to her in her private time.
Mimmi spends her time well with the children: teaching them craft, reading, writing, playing. I am lucky to have her because she is also very talented. She knits crochet toys for the children and she does projects with leftover material. She has helped Youssef make binoculars and Noor to make a robot with the little carton tube used as base to roll the toilet paper.
Mimmi has also helped me tremendously with potty training Youssef. I honestly and truly could not have made it that easily without her. Youssef was potty trained in record time. My children are maturing emotionally and physically well thanks to her.
She is also my friend. She hears me out when I have worries about my French furniture importing business or need a chat.
To me, Mimmi is the au pair of the month every month. We really love her and appreciate her and feel blessed that she was our luck.
