Ida Sundevik, Christchurch

I would like to nominate our Au Pair Ida Sundevik for Au pair of the month. Ida has been part of our family since November 2009. We have a very busy household with 14 month old twins. Ida has been with us since Poppy and Harry were 5 months old. I can quite honestly say we could not have done it with out her. It has been great for Ida to see them go from little babies to little people who are very busy crawling around and forming real personalities. Poppy and Harry absolutely adore Ida and I know Ida adores them. I quite often get comments from family or friends saying just how much she seems to love the kids which is what I love about Ida. Although Poppy and Harry really do give her the run around at times, she takes it all in her stride and just "gets on with it". I feel completely comfortable leaving poppy and harry with Ida when I go to work or out and about, firstly they don't notice me leaving as they are so pleased to see Ida and secondly I know she will have something fun to do with them. It is not easy taking twin babies out and about but they do go and do some sort of fun activity most days, Ida knows exactly what they want and what they need, what calms them etc which is fantastic. Ida went on holiday for 3 weeks and I am not sure who missed her more, me or the kids! We were all very pleased to see her when she got back! Ida has fitted in to the New Zealand lifestyle really well, we have her eating whitebait, venison, scallops etc, Ida is certainly not afraid to try new things! We will really miss Ida when she goes back to Sweden, but we feel blessed that she has been able to have such a positive influence on Poppy and Harry's life.
