Nina Knorr, Taranaki
Having been the host family of three amazing au pairs already, anyone that comes into our home has very high standards to live up to! Six weeks ago, we were left in the dreadful situation where our new au pair had to go home unexpectedly. Though we were able to find a new Au Pair to come over from Germany quite quickly, we were left with a six week gap with no one to look after our children and it was the middle of spring on the farm. My husband is a dairy farmer and I work in town. Nina Knorr came to our rescue! A city girl, with no interest in farming life, as a favour to Cecilia offered to help us out for a few weeks while we tried to sort something else out. Six weeks later, our new au pair has arrived and Nina has stayed the whole time - even helping us with a hand over. From the moment Nina walked into our home, she demonstrated initiative, compassion, a strong work ethic, and a love of our children. She helped see us through a very stressful time with ease. She's made a huge impact on our family in only a few short weeks and we will always be so grateful to her. Most amusing though, is her new found passion for farming... after her initial scepticism of all things "country", Nina has fully embraced farming life, spending all her free time milking cows, learning to drive motorbikes and tractors, and is even quite comfortable to spend quality time on the farm covered in poo. She's come along way from the city now. Thanks Nina, you are an absolute star!
