The Bonney-Lovegrove family (Auckland) - October 2016

Kira Mistele

Dear Nick, Steph, Felicity and Estelle,

I didn't think that I can be so happy in another country without my family and friends at home. But I am!  New Zealand is not a country close to Europe where you can fly back over Christmas or some friends come easily to visit you. The whole time I am here with you I didn't feel sad about not being at home. I have you to thank for that because I found in you my second family who takes me how I am. I feel like a family member in your little family what makes me veeeeeery happy!

You welcomed me so warmly and until now I can not believe that I have such a big luck with you as my host family because as you know lots of friends had not.

Every time I am stressed or in a bad mood we sit together for dinner and my bad mood is gone and we have lots of interesting and funny themes to talk about.

I appreciate that you Steph are worried about me if I'm away for travels or alone somewhere and giving me so many tips of wonderful spots, activities and cafés in Auckland and that you Nick change the car seats so often for me that I can use one of your cars when I need it. You help me with all my travel plans and took me to Kuaotunu, the Family's farm and Queenstown and made it possible that I skied in New Zealand in the german summertime. :)  These are only a few things I appreciate very much. It is really hard to write everything down what I'm grateful to.

It makes me so happy that you treat me as one of your family and you never forget me if I'm not with you. You brought me a brezel, strawberries or ice-cream for making me happy. For my birthday you baked me a wonderful cake and your present fits perfectly to me. That shows how good you know me meanwhile.

It is not easy to entrust your children to somebody else you don't know much at the beginning but you trust me with the kids what is important and I'm very glad about. The relationship between me and you girls got stronger and stronger and the last weeks I realized how much you girls mean to me and how much I love you. We had until now an amazing time together and taking care of you was/is never a job or work for me. Of course, sometimes it is exhausting with you two munchkins but the love I receive from you makes moments like that very small. It is so much fun being together with you Felicity and Estelle and I totally understand the sentence in your family profile description that you Steph had the best job in the world looking after these babies. You little girls give me so much love which makes my time with you so much more special. I can not imagine that I have to say good bye to you some time. That will be the hardest thing I've ever done because I already miss you if you are for a few days away.

Everybody of you can be so proud of himself/herself because you all have a wonderful and individual character and you are open to new people, languages and cultures what helps me to have an amazing time here with you and to learn lots about the kiwi's culture but to teach you some German things too. Nick and Steph you are not only great parents of two little, cute(mostly ;) ) well-behaved girls, you are the best host parents too.

You are a wonderful family and I´m so glad to be your au pair! I don't know if you will win the title Host family of the Month but however you are for me the best host family in the world. And most important you are the host family of my heart.

Lots of love,

Kira
