Our Programmes

With Au Pair Link you can either become an Au Pair in New Zealand or become an Au Pair overseas as part of our Au Pair OE programme.

Our Inbound New Zealand Programmes

Au Pair 123

Our Au Pair 123 programme is a quality Early Childhood Education (ECE) programme designed for Au Pairs who care for children under 5 years of age. The Au Pair 123 programme is licensed by the New Zealand Ministry of Education – the only such Au Pair programme in the world!  We provide a New Zealand government approved curriculum (educational programme) that is tailored for our Au Pairs who care for children under age 5.

This is a fantastic opportunity for our Au Pairs to learn professional child care techniques and to make a difference in the lives of each child – through helping them to develop their own unique skills and personalities. On the Au Pair 123 programme you will have access to weekly playgroups with your children, free outings for you and your children, monthly meetings with your Programme Manager as well as educational resources (books, toys etc), and a fun learning programme for both you and your children. An Au Pair 123 will work up to 45 hours per week maximum, usually in a sole charge position, for up to $220 NZD net pay per week. The Placement Term is for a maximum of 12 months and a minimum of 6 months. For further information on Au Pair wages please go to the Your Duties & Pay page of our website.

Au Pair Whiz

Au Pair Whiz is a professional – qualified or highly experienced – Au Pair programme. Au Pair Whiz candidates must have a minimum 2 years full time experience or a relevant childcare qualification.  An Au Pair Whiz will work up to 45 hours per week maximum, in a sole charge position, for up to $320 NZD net pay per week. Au Pair Whizzes receive a higher weekly wage, than what is paid on our other Au Pair programmes, in recognition of greater childcare experience. The Placement Term is for a maximum of 12 months and a minimum of 6 months. An Au Pair Whiz can care for children of all ages. For further information on Au Pair wages please go to the Your Duties & Pay page of our website.

Au Pair Mate

Our Au Pair Mate programme is an after school care programme typically designed for Au Pairs who care for children older than 5 years of age. Our Au Pair Mate participants are not required to work within the ECE curriculum framework and therefore are paid a reduced wage. Au Pairs Mate’s are able to study English in a full-time or part-time capacity (not more than 20 hours per week). An Au Pair Mate will work up to 45 hours per week maximum, sometimes in a sole charge position, for up to $200 NZD net pay per week. The Placement Term is for a maximum of 12 months and a minimum of 6 months. As most Au Pair Mates care for children over 5 years old they have a lot of free time while the children are at school – a great opportunity to explore your New Zealand and enhance your English skills through our study options. For further information on Au Pair wages please go to the Your Duties & Pay page of our website.

Au Pair Assist

Au Pair Assist is a short term mother’s help programme designed for Au Pairs caring for children under 5 years of age. Full support and assistance will be provided by Au Pair Link’s qualified Early Childhood Education teachers. An Au Pair Assist will work up to 45 hours per week maximum, sometimes in a sole charge position, for up to $200 NZD net pay per week. The Placement Term will be for a maximum of 3 months and study (see our Study Options) is optional.

The Au Pair Assist programme is targeted at international students already in New Zealand or overseas candidates seeking to study and work part-time as an Au Pair in New Zealand. Often Au Pair Assist candidates are already in New Zealand on a Working Holiday Visa and seeking part-time or short term work. For further information on Au Pair wages please go to the Your Duties & Pay page of our website.

Orientation Programme

We also provide a mandatory orientation programme for all Au Pairs upon their arrival in New Zealand (Au Pair 123, Au Pair Whiz, Au Pair Mate and Au Pair Assist programmes). Our orientation programme is a 3 day training course conducted in Auckland. As well as helping you to acclimatise after lengthy international travel – the programme includes childcare training by a qualified teacher, professional driving lessons and a tailored child first aid and CPR course.
