ERO reports for Taranaki, Wellington & Marlborough have been released!
Monday, 17 June 2013
Au Pair Link's Taranaki, Wellington and Marlborough licenses
undertook a round of reviews by the Education Review Office (ERO)
in February 2013. The resulting reports were made available
online.
The ERO education reviews in early childhood focus on the quality
of education. For ERO this includes the quality of:
- the programme provided for children
- the learning environment
- the interactions between children and adults.
The ERO have praised the quality of relationship between the Au
Pairs, the children and their families:
"Living in family homes contributes to familiarity with each
child's routines, knowledge of their individual interests and an
ability to respond to the needs of the family. The Au Pair
supports children to engage in play and activities during the
day. Children display curiosity and show enjoyment in the
range of experiences provided. Au Pairs are positive role
models and show respect for children."
Similiarly, the ERO praised Au Pair Link's "inclusive practices
that are 'culturally responsive'", particularly in the increasing
use of te reo me ngā tikanga Māori amongst Au Pairs and their
Family & Programme Managers. The high standard of Au Pair
Link's communication practices were also praised:
"Parents receive on-going information to assist with the inclusion
of an Au Pair into their home and liaise regularly with
Family & Programme Managers. Newsletters, email
correspondence and home visits support families to access relevant
information to assist the work of Au Pairs. The Family &
Programme Manager provides useful verbal and written feedback to Au
Pairs on a regular basis."
We thank the ERO for their assessment of our Early Childhood
Education service and look forward to the next set of
reviews. Also, a big thanks to the Family & Programme
Managers and our Host Families and Au Pairs who made their time and
homes available for us to visit.
