Why choose an agency?

Travelling to a new country as an au pair is exciting – but it can also be risky if you are not careful. Choosing the right au pair agency is an important decision. For that reason, it is very important to us that you receive the support that you need.  As a member of the International Au Pair Association, you can feel assured that Au Pair Link has your best interests at heart.

  • High probability of unsuitable host family candidates
  • Absence of a written contract
  • Little or no experience in the au pair industry
  • Lack of professionalism or financial stability
  • Non-existent standards or guidelines
  • Insufficient references and/or medical certification
  • Danger of document falsification and fraud
  • No re-match policy (secondary placement) if your initial placement is unsuccessful
  • No local support during the placement
  • Limited understanding of local employment regulations.

Orientation

After a long international flight, our orientation course will help you adjust to a new time zone and give you the opportunity to meet other au pairs before you join your host family. More importantly, our course provides valuable and potentially life-saving information about caring for children – including first aid training and CPR lessons.

  • Two nights’ hotel accommodation in Auckland including all meals
  • Professional first aid course and CPR training
  • Theoretical driving lessons conducted by a professional driving instructor
  • Childcare lessons conducted by our qualified Early Childhood Education teachers
  • Assistance with setting up your New Zealand bank account
  • A free New Zealand mobile phone SIM card
  • An exciting tour of Auckland city (optional and additional cost)

All au pairs receive a warm welcome and introduction to being an au pair in New Zealand – including ‘must see’ destinations, kiwi phrases… and so much more!

Our orientation courses occur throughout the year, running sessions weekly throughout our high au pair arrival months (January – February, July – August), and fortnightly during our lower arrival months (March – June, September – December).
