20 Hours ECE
When you join the Au Pair Link family, we can provide you with access to the 20 Hours ECE government subsidy – designed to give families like yours increased options when choosing childcare. The 20 Hours ECE subsidy means choosing an au pair as childcare is more cost-effective than you may have previously thought!
To be eligible for the subsidy, your child must be enrolled in one of our Ministry of Education licensed programmes – Au Pair 123, Au Pair Whiz, Au Pair Assist and Au Pair Support. You will have to decide which enrolled hours are covered, but you can’t claim more than 6 hours per day or 20 hours per week. Children become eligible for this subsidy once they turn three and are able to receive this until they turn six (or begin attending school). The 20 Hours ECE subsidy is not means tested.
If your child attends more than one ECE service, you can split the hours claimed – as long as these hours don’t overlap or exceed 20 hours per week in total. You’ll need to fill in an Au Pair Link enrolment form and confirm the days and hours you are claiming the subsidy.
The Childcare Subsidy (CCS) and the OSCAR subsidy are other options for Au Pair Link families. Parents and caregivers can choose between receiving the OSCAR Subsidy, Childcare Subsidy and 20 Hours ECE, or in some cases, a combination. If you do receive 20 Hours ECE, you are unable to claim the CCS for the same hours your children are enrolled in 20 Hours ECE. Work and Income New Zealand (WINZ) offer a number of subsidies to make quality childcare more accessible and affordable for eligible families. While we can’t apply for the subsidies on your behalf, we help manage the payments as an approved WINZ childcare provider while the kids are in your au pair’s care.
Our Paylink Payroll Service
Our au pair payroll service, PayLink, takes the hassle out of being an employer. We pay your au pair, calculate and pay the correct PAYE tax and assist with all their holiday, sick and annual leave payments.
It’s simple – register as an employer with the IRD and pay your au pair’s gross wage into our Client Fund Service a week in advance. From there we calculate the correct net wage, sort the PAYE tax and pay your au pair directly. We can even help you manage your au pair’s completion bonus – spreading the cost over the placement term.
You can save yourself a world of worry for only $11.00 per week (or $9.00 per week if we become your PAYE Intermediary). Becoming an employer can be daunting, but you can rest assured knowing that we’ve got your paperwork in order – so you’ve got more time to spend with the people that really matter.
If you already have an au pair and would like to register to join PayLink online, click here.
Please note, families who match with an au pair privately are only eligible to sign up for PayLink if they are enrolled in our home early learning programme (for families with children under five years of age).
Choosing us as your PAYE Intermediary
As your PAYE Intermediary, we’ll assist you in fulfilling your (the employer) PAYE obligations. It also means we can act on your behalf for all of your PAYE responsibilities as we’ll be able to liaise directly with the IRD. Families who allow us to become their PAYE Intermediary are subsidised $2.00 per payday, per employee. While allowing us to become your PAYE Intermediary is optional, it is recommended.
